Premier League punters eye value in Gameweek 2

After an engaging opening weekend, here’s a fresh look at the betting odds and what’s catching the markets’ attention across this weekend’s ten Premier League fixtures.

West Ham vs Chelsea (Friday, Aug 22)

Odds: Chelsea ≈ 1.71, Draw ≈ 4.30, West Ham ≈ 5.40 Chelsea drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace in a lacklustre opener, failing to capitalize despite dominating possession and shots. This underwhelming performance has slightly lengthened their win odds, though they remain firm favourites. West Ham’s heavy defeat to Sunderland makes their longer odds understandable.

Manchester City vs Spurs (Sat, Aug 23)

Odds: Man City ≈ 1.49, Draw ≈ 4.80, Spurs ≈ 5.56. City’s convincing 4-0 win over Wolves tightened their win odds. However, Spurs have proven to be stubborn opponents for Guardiola, winning more games against him than any other team. This history, combined with recent notable victories, makes Tottenham look better value at 5.56.

Bournemouth vs Wolves

No solid odds yet, but both teams conceded heavily last weekend. Over 2.5 goals seems worth watching early, markets may misprice the attacking weaknesses on show.

SOCCERMAG: Three talking points from the Premier League weekend

Brentford vs Aston Villa

After a 0-0 opening draw, Villa may tighten further. With Brentford needing time to adjust post-transfer, under 2.5 goals could be a smart hold for now.

Burnley vs Sunderland

Sunderland’s 3-0 win shows they’re sharp—and Burnley looked shaky on return. The Sunderland win stands out as a balanced bet before odds shorten.

Arsenal vs Leeds (Sat)

Arsenal are heavy favourites. Arsenal’s tight win at Manchester United showcased their defensive discipline and set-piece execution. Leeds brought energy but lacked finishing quality. Arsenal to win is straightforward and backed by form.

Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest

Forest impressed with a 3-1 win, but they’re historically weak away. Palace’s home defence remains sturdy. Crystal Palace to win or under 2.5 goals looks sensible value.

Everton vs Brighton

Everton looked toothless, while Brighton held firm. The Brighton draw/away win market is worth tracking if betting markets haven’t shifted substantially yet.

Fulham vs Manchester United

United’s stuttered against Arsenal but did have promising moments on attack. A Manchester United win or Fulham to score might offer value, especially if long odds are still offered for a resilient Fulham showing.

Newcastle vs Liverpool (Mon, Aug 25)

Liverpool’s 4-2 opening win was an impressive offensive showing with clear vulnerabilities at the back, but Newcastle’s home defence is solid. A big scoreline seems unlikely. Consider Liverpool to win or under 3.5 goals instead of expecting another goal-fest.
